Knoxville and Nelson decided to divorce after 12 years of marriage. Knoxville was the one who filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. His first marriage had also lasted a similar length of time, so the lighting had struck twice for the actor.
Surprisingly, the actor was known to gush about his wife and had even posted a sweet message dedicated to his wife a month before their reported September 2021 separation date. He described Nelson on Instagram at the end of August as “the sunshine on my face and everything good.”
Knoxville requested joint legal and physical custody of their children in his divorce application in 2022. It is unclear what other terms were included in the divorce proceedings and how they were dealt with.
That same year, Knoxville confirmed he was in a new relationship and openly shared photos of his new partner on Instagram. He even called her his love, and the two seemed to enjoy each other’s company.
